Fill in the Blank Friday

It’s been quite a week, and since I’ve been a bit lost in my head (but that is for another post) I thought I should come out and play, and a good set of “fill in the blanks” always brings a smile to my face! This week, Lauren from the Little Things We Do has offered up a list of firsts.

1. My first memory is Walking home with Grandpa Fritz on his noon lunch break. My Gram watched me during the day while my Mom worked, and she lived only two or so blocks away from the glass factory, so we would meet Grandpa at the corner. I couldn’t have been more than 2 or so, and all I remember is his whistle as we walked home.

2. My first love was my high school sweetheart. I was heartbroken and never knew why he broke up with me; at college, we became friends again (but I always had a secret crush on him). He was the bar that everyone had to measure up to, until I met my husband. (He raised the bar.)

3. My very first favorite color was pink, of course! (and my least fav color was green, despite being surrounded by green – greed bedroom, green gingham curtains, and my grandma always sewed green or yellow gingham for me, since my hair was blond.) To this day, green gingham still makes me break out in hives…

4. The first time I really felt like a “grown-up” was when I bought my first place, a town home in the suburbs. Nothing like a mortgage to make you feel properly grown up.

5. The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is bury my head in the comforter. My lovelies wake up “on” – which I do not – and I need a few minutes to shake loose the cobwebs before facing the morning chatter.

6. The first CD (cassette tape, record, etc…) I ever bought was quite possibly Olivia Newton John or ABBA, on a proper album. Although, in reality, it was likely a now forgotten 45 (as I’m old enough to have bought records). There may or may not have been a Barry Manilow album mixed in with the Adam Ant, Rush or Blondie albums, too.

7. My first car was a ’79 Chevy Impala four door that was a tank of a car. I LOVED that car – it had a huge bench seat in front, and it felt like you were driving your sofa. I bought it my freshman or sophomore year in college, and had it until I’d been working a proper real job. It leaked freon (a can would get me from home until about 10 miles away from school) and got about 12 MPG, but I loved her.

That’s it for me…how would you fill in the blanks? More fun blanks filled in and linked up at The Little Things We Do!

  1. Found your license plates from the impala and are saving them for you.
