The Gallery – Picture Postcard

I am a self-confessed photo junkie. My children are quite used to hearing “wait a minute, Mummy needs her camera” and “oooh, smile for me!”.  When I grow up, I’d like to be a photographer. Or a picture book illustrator. Or a baker….

But for now, I just take pictures for fun.

A lot of pictures.

Now, last Wednesday *hangs my head in shame* marked the 100th week of the Gallery at Sticky Fingers blog.  And I very nearly missed posting a photo! Nearly. Practically.

But I couldn’t do that. I love the Gallery.

However….picking one picture – one that I would consider worthy of a post card, or a greeting card….now that is a wee bit difficult.  Particularly if you are as indecisive as I am. So.

Probably my favorite place in the world is the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I’ll take the traffic, the touristy bits, the New Jersey accents all for time hanging out on the beach, jumping waves, boogie boarding, eating steamed shrimp and pulled pork BBQ. I have made so many memories there with my kids – chasing “crabbies” running in the sand, racing, building castles, and lazing in the sun.

This is one of my favorite pictures, maybe not the perfect choice for a picture postcard:

and this one is prolly the most postcard like:

Don’t you just want to grab a cold bottle of beer and dig your toes in the sand???

I have to take a minute to stop and thank Tara for sharing the Gallery with us, as it is a fun and fantastic excuse to post more of what I love – photos. Happy 100th – and may you have at least 100 1000 more!

  1. Gmom Phyl says

I love the first picture. Hard to catch your whole family airborne!!

  2. Wow! Love them both!
The jumping photo is such fun and that second one makes me want to grab a good book, a bottle of gin, a bottle of tonic and a straw hat – super stuff 😀

  3. When are you coming back. I MISS the beach and the fun we have there.

  4. Doubtful we’ll get there on our first summer back because school gets out so late here and starts so early there….(Yes, I’m mean and WILL make them finish the UK school year. Ok, not so mean, they don’t want to leave their friends here….so I’m being nice. They’ll be extra edumacated.)
