Fill in the Blank Friday

Happy Friday everyone!

It has been a long week with poorly kidlings in my house, but with Boo back to school and Pea considerably perked up, I think everything will be back to normal for the weekend. This cheers me up considerably!

It’s a happy coincidence then that Lauren over at The Little Things We Do has chosen the theme of “cheerful” for this week’s blanks. My timing has been off for the past few weeks so I haven’t been able to play along, so I’m really happy to be linking up.

I’m also now craving a trip to Dunkin’ Donuts for a double chocolate doughnut…if only the closest one wasn’t about 3,000 miles away….Thanks, Lauren.

Anyway…off we go! It’s time to fill in the blanks!

1.  Something that is very near and dear to my heart is photography. I rarely go anywhere without a camera, not counting the one on my iPhone. My kidlings are used to mommy holding things up because I “just need to take a quick picture”.

2.  Today I’m going to make the most of having a much-better poorly girl at home and steal cuddles until she is sick of me, watch my her favorite Disney and Barbie movies and not lift a finger around the house (making the most of an excuse for my house looking like a tip).

3.  The most fun I ever had was  taking the Hubs on his first-ever trip to Walt Disney World when he earned his MBA. I had to correct the apparently jaded childhood he had, and he really was like a 6-year-old those few days.  I highly recommend going without kids (if you don’t have any yet.)

4.  True friends are  those who can laugh at (not just with) you lovingly, tell you what you need to hear and not just what you want to hear, and with whom you can pick up with as if you were never gone, even if you live thousands of miles away or haven’t seen each other in ages.

5. Something that makes me terribly happy is  cooking a yummy meal that EVERYBODY likes. And having someone else do the washing up.

6. A good way to spend a sunny day is  sitting in the garden with a book, a cool drink in hand (particularly if it is a Pimms) watching your kids and pup run and play.

7.  My favorite celebratory food is a proper American birthday cake with buttercream icing. After three years in the UK, I still haven’t developed a love for the dry, royal-icing topped celebration cakes here. (Although doughnuts and coffee from Dunkin’ Donuts is a pretty close second. I haven’t found proper doughnuts over here, and now I have doughnuts on the brain.)

That’s it for me this week! How would you fill in the blanks? If you have an itch to, play along in the comment section below or link up your own post here!
