Fill In The Blank Friday

Oh, if ever there was a week I was glad it was Friday, it was this one. Yes, the kidlings had a short week since Monday was a Bank Holiday, but four days or five, the first week back after a holiday is brutal for them, especially Pea, who pretty much burst into tears the minute she walked out of school (yesterday as well as) today.

I’m trying not to take it personally, but wow, she was a mess tonight. Let’s just say that, on the tantrum scale, the one around suppertime (which we were eating on the patio) probably registered on “the neighbors will give us a happy going away party and kick us in the ass as we walk out the door” zone.

So as I slurp the margarita I didn’t get to have yesterday in honor of Cinco de Mayo *gulp*, let me raise my glass and say “TGIF”. And while I realize that I’ve done two memes today, I really miss Fill in the Blank Friday, so here we go:

1.   What I love most about my home is probably a tie between the Stoves Range in the kitchen (SEVEN burners, people, and 4 ovens) and the garden, which someone else mows. I’m going to miss that range when we move this summer.

2. I’m excited because the countdowns are on! Today was the 75 day mark before our cruise this summer, so I was able to go online and book a dinner reservation for the Hubs and I and get the kidlings signed up for the kids clubs. Also coming up is the Hay Festival, which we are super over-scheduled for, at least the first weekend, and the Cybermummy in London, which means not only do I get to pick up some new skills and meet some lovely bloggers in person, but I also get two nights away in London. Hot damn. I’m excited.

3.  My preferred method for blowing  off steam when I’m frustrated is most unfortunately a good crying jag. I’d like to say it is going out for a run, but that doesn’t happen much.

4.  Currently I am craving Spanish tapas, particularly Queso de Cabra – warm goats cheese in tomato sauce, spread on bread –  and a ice cold Sangria. If it were from Cafe Iberico in Chicago and I was sitting with my lovely friend Valerie, dishing on men and other things, all the better.

5.  The thing I love most about my mom is her ability to laugh at herself. I could use a little more of that lately.

6.  If I was going to write a book about my life, the title would be “She’s Slightly Off”, or something equally ridiculous. Because, really, it would have to be a book of short stories, my life in review is relatively unremarkable.

7. If I were to eat one thing for the rest of eternity it would be (and this is my interpretation of “one thing”) the cheese hamper we had from Wychwood Deli at Christmas time – there was a Truffled Brie de Mieux and a Delice and a fab goat cheese, and a fig preserve, which was all lovely on crackers. Seriously, I could live on good cheeses and crackers. And that basket had gorgeous Camaya Dark Chocolate Truffles as well.  (Well, the “hamper” is just one thing, right?)

How would you fill in the blanks?
