Fill in the Blank Friday

Hooray for Fridays and the start of the weekend!  The days are getting shorter – the sun is setting so early here – and the weather has been damp, wet, and windy – all perfect motivation for NOT leaving the house, starting a fire in the fireplace and curling up with a good book.

None of which I’ve had a chance to do, but with the weekend upon us, it sounds like the perfect time!

Speaking of perfect – its “Fill in the Blank Friday” and this week, it’s all about awesomeness – the best gift, the most spontaneous action – come join in!

1. The most spontaneous thing I’ve ever done was finding a really cheap rate online and flying to London  – for the weekend. Oh, how I long for the days of the $299 round-trip flights to Europe. I’m way too much a planner to do spontaneous things, although I wish I could do it (maybe something lower key) more frequently.

2. The best gift I’ve ever received was finding the Hubs – thanks to my mom, who said “go on, go to the party – you might meet someone!”. And believe it or not, I actually did. And from him, my son and daughter. I love them to bits.

3. A time that I was truly and genuinely surprised was when the Hubs proposed to me. I was completely clueless, even when he led me to a limo after we left the restaurant.  I was so surprised that, honestly, half of what he said to me didn’t register. (Sorry, baby!)

4. I  can’t leave the house without mascara on my lashes, undereye concealer (lest everyone I encounter tells me I look tired) and my cell phone.

5. My favorite day of the week is Saturday because we don’t have to get up and rush to get someplace – and I get to hang out with my kids. I get so little time with them during the week, and most of it is either when they are rushed or tired and whiny after school.

6. Something that can always make me laugh is old home movies. The clothes we wore, the bad haircuts – my Dad’s lamb chop sideburns. They never fail to entertain!

7.My perfect day would include sleeping in, waking up to a full pot of coffee that we could drink on the deck of our beach house (imaginary). A stroll on the beach with the kids, a splash in the water, a bit of time to curl up a bit with a book. Some play time with the kids – no fighting at all! – and then a quiet dinner date with my husband to end the day.
