Country Cousins

One of the best parts about birthday weekends is that it is one of the few times during the year that the kids get to spend time with their cousins (from down south). It shouldn’t be so hard, but with school schedules and activities, we don’t get to see each other nearly as often as we’d like.

Sam and Maddie were beside themselves waiting for Sophia, Julia and Max to arrive. Sam had his trundle bed all made up for Sophia, and Maddie cleared off her dolls and tutus so that Julia could sleep in the bed in her room. (That girl shows absolutely no interest in getting out of her crib. Hopefully she’ll be out before she is in first grade).

Everyone had a good time dressing up – even Sam. He and Sophia dug out the knight costume and the foam swords and jumped around for a while, and played in the castle tent. (You won’t catch Sam in any girlie clothes, but he does have a fireman uniform, chef’s cloche and apron, and his SuperSam cape.) Julia made the most of Maddie’s dress up clothes and accessories, as did Sophia, later. Sam’s stage was a huge hit, too, as you can tell:

Hey, in THIS house, there is no such thing as too many accessories. I’m just impressed by Julia’s guitar-playin’ and purse wearin’. Sophia had the microphone, but she didn’t really need it. She can belt it out all on her own!

Meanwhile, Maddie and Max “faced” off in a cheesiest grin contest:

I think it was a tie.

We actually had fantastic weather, and the Dads got everyone outside playing ball, riding bikes, and wearing them out…er…giving them lots of exercise while the Moms went shopping, of course!

We miss you guys! Please come back and play (in the basement) again! This momma loved all the basement/outside action. The inside actually remained undestroyed, and the grownups could visit in peace!
