I recently reviewed (and had a giveaway) for another Lisa Scottoline novel, a humorous memoir co-written with her daughter, Francesca Serritella titled I Need a Lifeguard Everywhere But The Pool.  In it, I spoke about how it’s a delightful departure from her gripping mysteries.Well, today, I’m sharing one of my favorite beach reads of this trip, a title that returns to her Rosato and DiNunzio mystery series: Exposed.

Exposed was the perfect beach read – one that required a heavy application of Coppertone 50 because I was glued to my beach chair.

I’ve long been a fan of Lisa Scottoline’s mysteries, and this one was no exception.  If you’re a follower of her stories featuring Bennie Rosato, you’ve also seen her now-partner Mary DiNunzio’s character develop and grow as they share cases and adventures – if you want to call them that.

It’s been a thrill watching Mary grow to become a partner with Bennie, but this story – one that shakes the foundations of their partnership – was a punch to the gut. Lisa Scottoline has always been wonderful in her character building, so it’s easy to feel all the angst and frustration both women are feeling when backed into a corner professionally, as well dragging my heart through the coals with the background story of a suffering widower coping with his only child’s illness.

Oh, and she does all this while crafting a tight mystery that isn’t quite what it seems.

Exposed is a fast-paced thriller that kept me tapping my Kindle screen and resulted in a mild burn.

Nothing that a bit of aloe and time under a beach umbrella can’t remedy.

Exposed will be released on August 15, 2017. You can order a copy by clicking HERE.

Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for providing me with an advanced reader copy. All thoughts an opinions are my own. This post also contains affiliate links which will support my need for aloe vera after all the excessive, obsessive reading on this beach trip.
