Sneak Preview: Crayola Experience Coming to DFW

Recently, I was invited to a media event with Crayola. Since I immediately revert to an 8-year-old when I pick up a Crayola crayon, I was intrigued, but had no idea what was in store for me.

It was pretty exciting.

I’m silly excited to share that in May 2018 (forever in kid years) the Crayola Experience is coming to Plano! As a destination for my family, it fits the bill: it spurs creativity, offers STEM experiences, an active play area to work out the wiggles, and plenty of hands on experiences.

Housed in a custom-built space at the Shops of Willow Bend in Plano, Texas, just north of Dallas, it will be 60,000 square feet of fun with 22 different experiences including things like Drip Art…

(Melted wax fun that is not in my house? LOVE.)

…to science experiments

…to even being able to name your own Crayola crayons and make your own unique labels!

I had fun playing with “Color Magic” – which brought my cute little dragon to life (shading for the win)

and even starring in my own coloring page.

Personally, I am looking forward to being able to pick my own pack.

That’s MY. Own. Pack.

Because honestly, we were sitting around a table, plate of nibbles at our left hand, mindlessly coloring with our right, a big, beautiful bucket of new Crayola crayons within reach, commenting on how peaceful it was and how its rare to get this kind of quiet time. All we needed to make it perfect was a glass of wine…

…and they dropped a bomb:

Crayola After Dark.

Yes, that is wine, and maybe some kind of wax art but do you really care? Crafty fun for grown ups? Sign me up!

And of course, it will feature The Crayola Store – the world’s largest collection of Crayola products!

Need more details? Crayola Experience in Plano will be open 365 days a year, and a typical family visit takes about 3-4 hours to get through the entire experience. Entry admission is $19.99 – but the annual pass is only $29.99. (No question which to get there – but if you aren’t sure, you can upgrade your day admission to an annual pass before you leave.)

And while I know May 2018 seems like a long way off, it will be here before we know it. To stave off the wait, I have a giveaway for four (4) vouchers to be exchanged for entry tickets.
